We are delighted to announce that our new engineering and Modern Apprentice training centre in Tweedbank is now open for business.
After a year of hard work and a total investment of £170.8K the centre offers the Borders a state-of-the-art technical training centre for use by Modern Apprentices and companies throughout the Borders. With one large classroom and workstations equipped with the latest welding, lathes and electrical circuit wiring equipment, it rivals the very best training facilities anywhere in the UK.
BTTA Group Training Director, Russell Coleman said: “There is an enormous resurgence of interest in apprenticeships as young people turn their back on universities due to high levels of student debt and diminishing career prospects. A recent survey revealed that almost half of young people believe learning a trade is a quicker route to earning £100,000 than going to university. Moreover, AI is taking away many traditional career paths whereas physical jobs such as a plumber, engineer or joiner look set to thrive in the new economy.”
He added: “We are very grateful to Rachael Hamilton MSP and John Lamont MP who took time out of their busy schedules to celebrate our opening event last week. We were also delighted that so many of our employer clients, Modern Apprentices and partners were able to come along and see the facilities first hand. Any businesses or individuals who feel they may benefit from first class engineering training are welcome to contact me for a tour.”
